Saxon's 2006 crusade cancelled

Eighties rock Gods Saxon have been banned fro the Middle East. Tonight, Dubai stages Desert Rock, a concert in front of 25,000 local metal fans, headlined by Megadeth. Saxon were lined up to play until earlier this week when an Arabic press campaign started against them, thanks to their 1984 classic hit, Crusader. Authorities banned the old rockers from Dubai after this editorial.

"The question here for the band and organisers is what will Saxon do in Dubai's land and on Arabian sands? Are they going to make us, the Saracen heathens, taste their music just as if their guitars were swords made of steel."
